-The prospective resident council of Gapyeong First One Apartment Complex expressed their appreciation to DL E&C.
-Introduced the defect rate on structural frame work for the first time in the construction industry, and conducted inspection and evaluation twice a month by a quality control team.
-Achieved the industry’s lowest level in the average number of defects per household during pre-visit by MoLIT

DL E&C’s apartment brand ‘e-Pyeonhansesang’ was recognized for its excellent quality during pre-visit by residents. On November 19, the site of ‘e-Pyenhansesang Gapyeong First One’ received an official letter from the prospective resident council, expressing their appreciation for the excellent quality.

The site of ‘e-Pyenhansesang Gapyeong First One’ hold a pre-visit by residents on June 24 and 25, and the residents moved in from August 22 to October 20. The prospective resident council said, “We were able to see firsthand the efforts that DL E&C has made to secure excellent quality despite the various difficult construction environments”, and sent an official letter, stating “We sincerely thank all officials in site for their hard work.” Given that the issue of apartment quality has recently emerged as a social issue and the prospective residents are pointing out defects in and complaining about apartment quality, this appreciation is very unusual.

As the letter was sent by prospective residents after they personally visited the inside of the apartment to inspect the construction quality and check the quality of e-Pyeonhansesang during the actual residence after moving in, it can be said that DL E&C’s efforts for innovating quality have been recognized by customers.

DL E&C carries out defect-free activities under the quality management philosophy to adhere to a rigorous level of quality control throughout the company. The core of zero defect is to consider not only products that do not meet quality standards but also ‘everything that causes inconvenience to customers’ as defects.

Especially, DL E&C introduces and implements the concept of evaluating defect rates from the structural frame work to finishing work this year for the first time in the construction industry. An inspection team of quality masters comprised of site managers with over 25 years of experience inspects and evaluates key quality items twice a month. If the defect rate exceeds the reference rate, the team immediately take measures to stop the construction and ensure that all causes of defects should be eliminated before proceeding with the construction. In order to control the quality of the construction process to ensure that no defects occur that cause inconvenience to customers, the concept of evaluating defect rates was initially applied to 80 items in 16 construction categories, and the defect rate was improved as detailed activities for improving quality for these items were conducted throughout the company.

For example, for the item of ‘in-situ applying of anti-cracking agent for structural frame’, we implemented the quality improvement for subdividing and rearranging the construction process and sequence, a worker’s quality assessment system for enhancing the awareness of the workers, quality training for workers, and rewards for excellent workers, etc. Through these various and company-wide improvement activities, we achieved a defect rate of ‘0’ within 1 year after implementation.

As a result of these efforts, the number of defects reported during the pre-visit by residents was the lowest level in the industry. According to the data on the defects in apartment during the pre-visit to apartment from 2021 to June 2023, which was submitted by MoLIT to the MoLIT Committee within the National Assembly, the total number of defects reported during the period was 11,487,029. When the number of defects reported to DL E&C during the same period is divided by the number of the occupied households, the average number of defects reported per household was 7.8, the lowest level in the construction industry. This is the outcome of continuous efforts for quality innovation made by the DL E&C’s employees based on DL E&C’s quality management philosophy.

DL E&C plans to continue to bolster its company-wide quality innovation activities with the goal of ‘zero defect’ to provide the best quality to customers.
