On May 4th , DL E&C and CARBONCO announced that they have entered into a business agreement with ECI, CMFBG of the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the leading academic research institute in related fields to achieve and realize ‘Carbon Neutrality in 2050’.

This business agreement was signed in conjunction with the 56th Annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank being held in Incheon. The participating organizations and companies are planning to collaborate in developing new environmental technologies in response to global climate change. To achieve this critical goal, they agreed to cooperate in the joint development and commercialization of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies both domestically and internationally. They are also planning to realize urban infrastructure for climate sustainable systems, to nurture human resources for domestic and international expansion of new climate industries, and to lead and globalize new climate sustainable systems in developing countries by means of carbon materialization technologies.

Carbon Materialization Flagship Project is a inter-ministerial project for carbon recycling, which was jointly launched by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Ministry of Environment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The project conducts various R&D activities and drives commercialization for carbon reduction and industrial waste recycling by means of commercialization of new environmental technologies, in addition to mineral carbonation technologies.

In January, DL E&C, CMFBG and Gangwon National University entered into an MOU with the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology on the subject matters of ‘collaboration for technology transfer and commercialization based on R&D in the carbon materialization project’. Since then, they have been pushing forward local commercialization through active cooperation with Vietnamese state-owned enterprises that own power plants and mines.
Yoo Jae-Ho, Chief Executive of DL E&C’s Plant Business Division, said, “We are focusing on advancing CCUS technology, a key technology to solve climate change issue, and taking the lead in supplying carbon reduction solutions and actively support the projects for greenhouse gases reduction. We are also planning to expand our decarbonization business in the global market.”
