DL E&C announced on May 5th that it has been selected as the preferred bidder of the Private Investment Project for Uijeongbu Public Sewage Treatment Plant Modernization, a long-cherished project for Uijeonbu city. The Project involves modernizing, reinforcing, and relocating underground three outdated sewage treatment plants into a single sewage treatment plant by applying cutting-edge treatment technology. The Uijeongbu Public Sewage Treatment Plants began operations in Jangam-dong in 1987, but since then the city has faced skyrocketing maintenance costs due to deterioration. The plants also had difficulty meeting the strengthened effluent water quality criteria. Furthermore, large-scale apartment complexes and amenities built around the treatment plants have led to civil complaints about the bad smell, which has increased the demand for the modernization of the sewage treatment plants.
DL E&C proposed a private investment project in 2019 to modernize the public sewage treatment plants in Uijeongbu in order to address the problem. Recently, the company was selected as the preferred bidder. The plan is to commence the project in 2024 and complete it in 2029, ensuring clean and stable sewage treatment. DL E&C aims to provide a pleasant leisure space for citizens by transforming the ground space into a park through this project.
DL E&C has extensive experience in various domestic sewage treatment plant improvement projects, including Seoul Seonam Water Recycling Center, Korea’s largest sewage treatment plant. The company has made efforts to reduce potential environmental problems in the sewage treatment process by actively developing eco-friendly technology, including sludge reduction sewage treatment technology.
DL E&C has a strategy to expand its global developer business in diverse fields, including water treatment facilities and the recovery of energy from waste resources. As an eco-friendly power generation developer, the company has drawn significant attention by operating Pakistan's Gulpur Hydropower Plant in full swing last year.
