On the 10th, Sang-Young Lee, an executive in charge of technology at DL E&C’s Housing Business Division (left), and Young-Hoon Kim, the CEO of Meissa, entered into an MOU to build a Digital Twin and improve productivity at construction sites.
DL E&C announced on the 10th that it entered into an MOU with Meissa to build a ‘Digital Twin’ in the construction sector and improve productivity of the construction site at its head office in D-Tower, Donuimun, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Korea.
DL E&C and Meissa decided to cooperate with each other in building a Digital Twin in the construction sector under this MOU. A Digital Twin is a virtual realization of an object in the real world. If it is applied to the construction sector, it can create a ‘twin’ of a real building in a virtual space and thus can be utilized for various fields, including, but not limited to, process, quality control, safety management, design, presales and maintenance. It is attracting great attention as it has advantage of being able to simulate things that are difficult to realize in the real world due to cost or safety issues.
In particular, DL E&C and Meissa decided to jointly develop a drone platform for building a digital twin. DL E&C has accumulated a variety of knowhow on the use of drones, such as allocating drones to all construction sites for site management in and out of the country. Meissa, a smart construction platform company, has the only 3D mapping engine in Korea. the two companies plan to photograph and analyze construction sites using drones, in order to build a more sophisticated digital twin and to provide various solutions to the construction industry.
Sang-Young Lee, an executive in charge of technology at DL E&C’s Housing Business Division, said, “DL E&C has the ability to analyze and utilize various big data derived from simulations of Digital Twin, based on competitiveness in BIM (Building Information Modeling), AI and drone. We will continue to lead the digital twin market in collaboration with Meissa having strengths in the field of smart construction solutions.”
Meanwhile, DL E&C has recently been selected as a leader in the field of BIM out of 6 major tasks of the smart construction council of MoLIT, positioning itself as a leader in digital twin. It launched the ‘K-Digital Twin Working Group’, along with KT, Epic Games, Bithumb Meta and Hybe IM.
