Legoland Access Bridge with Circular Tower Completed

Circular Tower resembling Lego block stud

A cable-stayed bridge with a circular tower was completed in Chuncheon, a lakeside city. Daelim announced on March 9 that the company completed the tower construction process for the Legoland access bridge built on Uiam Lake in Chuncheon.

Due to the tower’s unique shape, the bride has been drawing attention as a landmark of Chuncheon even before its construction was completed. Designed as a circle with 45m in diameter to use it as a local tourist attraction, the tower was built with steel structure to ensure the bridge’s stability. Passing through the circular tower are a 4-lane road and a sidewalk/bicycle road.

Daelim adopted the technology of ultra-high performance concrete, a cutting-edge construction material, for the road cable-stayed bridge for the first time in the world. The ultra-high performance concrete is a new material with 6 times more compression strength than general concrete. In fact, a 100 won coin-sized area can withstand the weight of an elephant.

The Legoland access bridge connects Geunhwa-dong and the alluvial island of Uiam Lake in Chuncheon City. Its total length is 966m, and its width is 25m. The current process rate is 75%, and the bridge is planned to be completed in the second half of 2017.
