DL E&C completed ‘modular detached house’ for the first time in Korea.

-Applied new patent technology independently developed by DL E&C to realize a perfect detached house in combination with multiple units
-“Leading the housing innovation with differentiated, customized and high-quality modular products”

DL E&C announced on the 6th that it has completed Korea’s first ‘town-type complex of modular detached houses in Sandong-myeon, Gurye-gu, Jeollanamdo (hereinafter “Gurye Modular Housing Complex”). Based on this achievement, the Company plans to lead housing innovation with differentiated, high-quality modular technology that can even provide customized products.

▣Differentiated technology realized the perfect detached houses that goes beyond the limits of marketability.

Modular housing is a method in which each unit of a building is produced in advance at a factory, and then transported to the site for assembling. Minimizing on-site work not only shortens the construction period, but also ensures uniform quality. It can also reduce carbon and waste emissions during the construction process, attracting attention as an eco-friendly construction method with less dust and noise.

Gurye Modular Housing Complex completed by DL E&C is a one-story detached house, including an attic, on a site with a total floor area of 1,347.63m2, having 26 households with an area for exclusive use of 74 m2. As a public rental housing project for the urban-to-rural returners, construction began in June last year, and residents recently moved in after completion.

DL E&C designed and realized a perfect detached house for the first time in Korea, combining a total of 11 steel modular units. DL E&C has been developing modular technology since 2017, and possesses more than 40 related patents. The Company’s own patent technologies, including ‘unit combination design’, ‘non-welding connector’ and ‘exterior joint system without foundation work’, were applied to “Gurye Modular Housing Complex”, which has built a modular design and production system suitable to the environment for the domestic detached house, and improved productivity by 125%.

The existing industries remained in the production of small houses (studio, dormitory, etc.) using only one unit because of technical problems arising from transportation, installation, joining and finishing of modules. This has limited the design and marketability of modular housing, but DL E&C has overcome these limitations through the development of differentiated technologies and succeeded in supplying high-quality steel module-based detached houses. Especially, the efficient combination of units using the Company’s accumulated knowhow and new technologies organized 3 rooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, attic, laundry room and verandas, and enabled to make use of the spacious floor plan of the detached house.

▣Customers can select the units they want, and assemble and place them like Lego.
DL E&C plans to continuously expand its differentiated modular housing business based on the successful completion of “Gurye Modular Housing Complex”.

DL E&C is developing a ‘multi-connection technology’ that allows customers to freely select standard modular units and organize the floor plan they want. With the use of this technology, customers can choose, assemble and arrange the units they want, such as kitchen, living room and bedroom, just like Lego. Special options such as sunroom and spa can also be installed in a customized type, which is expected to raise the design marketability of modular detached house to the next level.

DL E&C is also speeding up the development of ‘foundation-unit disassembly technology’ that can quickly and stably disassemble existing modular units, and then move them to a new location for reinstallation and recycling.

An official from DL E&C said, “Modular houses are not only economical, but also eco-friendly construction that dramatically improves productivity and constructability compared to existing houses, and the market is expected to grow rapidly. We continue to innovate and lead the paradigm shift in housing based on our differentiated modular technology.”
