DL E&C accelerates corporate innovation with partners.

-Forming consensus to overcome the crisis….“Quality and safety are essential conditions for corporate survival”
-The production of integrated business manual with partners - the first step toward corporate innovation
-Conducted meetings and in-depth interviews with legal representatives, managers and hands-on workers of partners

DL E&C has started to strengthen its competitiveness with its partners to overcome the crisis in the construction industry. Since December of the last year, DL E&C has been producing an integrated manual as the first step toward the company-wide corporate innovation, and is communicating with its partners via various channels to capture vivid voices from the field. During the communication process, DL E&C was able to confirm the consensus of its partners on the production of manual and innovative activities, and said that it is doing its best to incorporate technology and knowhow of top experts in the field into the manual.

In a business environment where uncertainty is accelerating, and customer and social demands on the overall construction industry are increasing, DL E&C has chosen the winning move of implementing the best quality beyond the customer expectations in order to survive and take off. Any defects lead to rework, causing delay in construction period, pressure on cost, and threatening safety. In the end, in order to break the vicious circle of continuous situations where even quality is threatened, and to develop basic physical strength that can withstand recessions and economic fluctuations, DL E&C has been invested its overall capabilities and continued its defect zero activities for many years.

DL E&C does not satisfy with this, but seeks to find answers from the field and the basics, along with its partners, to achieve innovation that can consistently provide customers with the best completeness and quality. Furthermore, it plans to take the lead in boldly revealing and breaking down the conventional practices and maladies in the construction industry in order to innovatively improve productivity, efficiency and quality level, and to change the construction industry.

Prior to the full-scale production of the integrated business manual, the legal representative of DL E&C, Ma Chang-Min, personally held individual meetings with the CEOs of major partners in mid-December last year. Mr. Ma asked, “In order to improve quality and safety, we desperately need the help of our partners who know the field better than anyone else, and have expertise in the field.”, and explained the purpose, “The completion of the manual will further strengthen our partnership between our partners and us, and enhance the competitiveness of both companies.”

Lee Jun-Hee, the CEO of Kim & Lee, a plumbing contractor, sympathized with purpose, saying “We recognize that quality and safety are essential for the survival of our company.” Lee Hae-Cheon, the CEO of Heungwoo Industry, a partner in civil engineering work for bridge and port, expected, saying “We also do not have a well-organized manual within our company, so we will use this opportunity to document and systematically manage our accumulated knowhow.”

Currently, DL E&C is organizing a TFT and conducting in-depth interviews with CEOs of its partners as well as their site managers and executives, who are top experts, in order to produce a business manual, which allows the manual to reflect knowhow and expertise possessed by the top experts in each construction category and work. The executives of employees of partners agree that the main contractor and subcontractors are partners in the same boat when it comes to problems caused by defects, and they actively provide their technologies and knowhow to realize the best quality.

In the course of in-depth interview, Yoo Byung-Soo, an executive director of Seongpoong Construction said, “Defects can cause serious problems, such as decrease in operating profit and devaluation of credit rating due to additional repair costs and damage to the company’s reputation, so defect zero activities are essential for construction sites. If the manual is written in an easy-to-understand manner for everyone, it will be a good guide to reduce defects for field workers, and will be of great help in carrying out their work.”

DL E&C also opened an anonymous communication channel, along with in-depth interviews, in order to collect diverse opinions and apply them to the manual. Han Jin-Ho, a team leader of Daol E&C, said, “I was skeptical at first, but my colleagues are also actively expressing their opinions, seeing that even small suggestions are reflected and applied.” Kim Jin-Pyo, the CEO of Seongpoong Construction, said, “The president and employees, as well as in-house experts, are gathering opinions and expressing their opinions via the communication channel. I think it is a wonderful on-site communication channel, and I hope it will be operated on a regular basis in the future.”

An official from DL E&C said, “We are forming a consensus with our partners on the purpose and goals of this integrated business manual, listening to even small opinions and reflecting them in the manual, therefore, active expression of opinions is carried out by the CEOs of partners as well as by managers and workers. We will soon complete the production of the integrated business manual to apply it to the site, while further expanding communication with partners to overcome the crisis in the construction industry.”
