Section 10 of Donghae Line from Pohang to Samcheok railroad held an event celebrating the penetration of Mangyang Tunnel No. 2 on February 7. The site penetrated Mangyang Tunnel 1 in March and Mangyang Tunnel 3 in December last year, starting with Sadong Tunnel in February last year. With Mangyang Tunnel No. 2 opened, all the planned 4 tunnels were penetrated.
Penetrating a tunnel
The 166.3km long Donghae Line construction between Pohang and Samcheok railroad involves a single track railroad from Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do to Samcheok, Gangwon-do through Yeongdeuk and Uljin. Daelim is building a 10.84km long railroad subbase from Giseong-myeon to Wonnam-meyon, Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do as the company in charge of section 10. The construction period is 48 months, and it is slated to be completed in January next year.
