The Sungai Brunei Bridge built by Daelim was awarded the Gold Prize in the Civil Engineering Structure of the Year Awards. The Civil Engineering Structure of the Year Award is given by the Korean Society of Civil Engineers on March 30 of each year. The best structure is selected from among the civil engineering structures completed each year through screening. The Sungai Brunei Bridge opened in October last year is the first cable-stayed bridge on Brunei River, which is the counterpart of Han River in Seoul.
The bridge tower’s top part is designed in traditional dome shape to symbolize Brunei’s national religion, Islam. The waterfront, the tower’s lower part, is designed as the shape of the crescent moon, a national flag pattern; the overall design reflects Brunei’s culture.
The 4-lane bridge with length of 712m and main span of 300m has drawn attention with the design reflecting the locals’ religion and culture. Such point was what clinched the award for the company, which scored high in creativity, artistic value, and eco-friendliness.
