Received the order for the fourth refinery plant in Al-Zour, Kuwait (May 12)

Daelim and several domestic construction companies received an order for constructing the fourth refinery plant with a capacity of 615,000 barrels a day in Al-Zour, Kuwait. This plant is located in Al-Zour, 90km south of Kuwait City and it is the nation’s largest project in which the Kuwait government invests $15 billion.

Four packages out of 5 ones in total were made a competitive bid, and Daelim Industrial Co., Ltd., Hyundai Engineering & Construction, GS Engineering & Construction and SK Engineering & Construction received the order for all of them. These projects amount to $6.36 billion, the biggest single project since Korea’s entry into overseas market in 1965 for the first time. Among them, Daelim our company received an order for ‘Package 4’, a construction of oil storage facility, at $1.184 billion. The project is expected to start within this month and to be completed by May 2012.

These performances reaffirmed Korea’s world-class technology in large-scale plant sector as domestic construction companies outstripped the advanced competitors in the U.S and France. Moreover, this case is expected to be left as an exemplary model by reducing cut-throat competition between Korean companies and concentrating each company’s capacity in the specialized construction process. .
