Daelim will build a suspension bridge over Gwangyang Bay

Kwangyang Bay to build the largest suspension bridge in Korea,
the 3rd largest in the world. (December 11)
Following the design appraisal for a bid for Yeosu National Grade Penetration Roads by the Office of Supply, Jeollanam-do, on December 8(Friday), the consortium of Daelim Industrial Co. Ltd., including Hyundai and SK, was selected as both the designer and builder of a suspension bridge between Myodo and Kwangyang.
This bridge is to be completed by June, 2012, coinciding with the Expo Yeosu Korea 2012. The bridge, which totals at a length of 2260m, with a 1545m span between the main columns, will be the 3rd largest suspension bridge in the world, following Japan’s Akashi Bridge, of 1991m, and Denmark’s Great Belt Bridge, of 1624m.
