Jeju Nohyeong Daelim Apartment, built by Daelim Industrial Co., Ltd. (President & CEO Yong Koo Lee), won the best-graded preliminary certification of a green building.
The Green building certification is an official arrangement used to select the best-quality housing in the nation under the joint leadership of the MOCT and the Environment Ministry. The system was implemented in 2000 by integrating factors used to determine the most convenient housing for dwellers with the pilot certification scheme of green buildings; strict qualifications commensurate with global standards, combined with quantitative categories for evaluation, has allowed only four apartment complexes to gain excellent grades so far.
The examination process is categorized into five criteria: land utilization and traffic condition, energy sources and environment capacity, ecological climate, interior design and miscellaneous. After examination, Jeju Nohyeong Daelim Apartment won an impressive 89.28 points out of 100, thereby ranking first in the competition.
The best grade winning Jeju Nohyeong Daelim Apartment is a low-dense building with a 159.9% floor area ratio. It neighbors with a large-scale park and children’s playground in the vicinity. The apartment complex also boasts a pedestrian-friendly environment in its accommodation of roads used exclusively by pedestrians and bicycles, respectively. An ecological pond and green tract add to the attractiveness of the landscape and the nature-friendly living environment of the housing.
The apartment’s insulation is 15% beyond regulatory requirements: its high performance airtight windows and doors, separate room digital air control system and high-efficient boilers, all contribute to enhancing the building’s insulation and are expected to cut energy costs by 30% on average.
