DL E&C obtained a certification for new construction technology from MoLIT (the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport) in relation to ‘Waterproof Drywall System for Bathrooms’.

DL E&C announced on the 13th that its ‘Waterproof Drywall System for Bathrooms’, jointly developed with Hansol HomeDeco, has obtained a certification for new construction technology from MoLIT.
The certification for new construction technology is a government accreditation program that recognizes technologies developed for the first time in Korea or significantly improved from existing technologies based on their novelty, technological advancement, and practical applicability. This new technology was recognized for its outstanding performance over conventional wet construction methods for bathroom walls, in terms of defect reduction, ease of installation, and shortened construction periods.
Traditional wet construction methods for bathroom walls involves stacking bricks with cement and then attaching ceramic tiles thereon. This method requires an additional waterproofing process and curing time, resulting in longer construction schedules. It also relies heavily on skilled workers to ensure construction quality.
By contrast, the new dry construction method utilizes only 16 large waterproof panels (approximately 2,440×590mm) to finish a lightweight bathroom wall measuring approximately 16.3m². Since no curing process is required, overall construction period can be significantly reduced. In addition, the joints between materials employ a reverse-slope clip design*, which prevents moisture penetration, thereby reducing the likelihood of grout detachment, staining, and other moisture-related defects while making maintenance easier.
This new technology is the result of combining DL E&C's construction expertise with Hansol HomeDeco’s finishing material technology. It is already being adopted in projects under DL E&C’s residential brands, ‘ACRO’ and ‘e-Pyeonhansesang’. Through the implementation of this technology, DL E&C has achieved approximately three times higher construction productivity, reduced on-site defect rates by more than 60%, and lowered labor requirements by approximately 18% compared with conventional construction methods.
An official from DL E&C stated, “This new technology, which was recently certified by MoLIT, fundamentally transforms bathroom construction productivity while addressing long-standing quality issues such as tile detachment and cracking. We will continue to overcome the limitations and technical challenges of existing construction methods, and lead the industry through continuous innovation.”
Meanwhile, DL E&C has continued to produce tangible results through its quality innovation initiatives aimed at reducing construction defects. According to defect adjudication statistics compiled by MoLIT’s Defect Review and Dispute Mediation Committee covering the period from last year through February this year, DL E&C recorded zero defect cases.
Furthermore, DL E&C has maintained a zero defect adjudication record for four consecutive years, from 2023 to the present. Based on cumulative defect adjudication results over the past five years, DL E&C also ranked No. 1 in quality control among Korea’s top 10 construction companies in construction capability evaluation, reflecting its rigorous quality control process throughout every stage of construction and its commitment to customer satisfaction.
Terminology:
Reverse-slope* - A structural design in which the slope is intentionally configured opposite to the conventional direction so that moisture is naturally directed outward. This technology minimizes water infiltration into panel joints and enhances waterproof performance.
