DL E&C announced on the 8th that it has produced an animated safety training video for foreign workers who are not proficient in Korean. The video was planned to convey safety rules to foreign workers easily and effectively as the number of foreign workers is increasing.
DL E&C created an animation using motion graphics to explain dangerous situations so that anyone who does not know Korea can understand the safety rules. 47 essential safety rules for each type of work were organized into 5 themes: common, carpentry, steel frame, rebar and concrete. DL E&C selected the themes based on the opinions of safety experts and on-site workers. The animation compares safety precautions with the potential consequences of neglecting them, highlighting common accidents that can easily occur at construction sites, including falls, pinching in, and suffocation, to raise workers’ awareness. The videos are also relatively short, lasting about 10 minutes, to help workers stay focused.

These videos are translated into the top 5 languages used by foreign workers – Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian, Cambodian and Myanmar – as well as English, making it easier for foreign workers to undergo safety training. They are used during site briefing, training for new workers, regular monthly training sessions. DL E&C expects that this multilingual safety training video will increase foreign workers’ understanding on individual processes and improve their technical skills.
Given the construction industry’s characteristics, the importance of safety management for the growing number of foreign workers is becoming increasingly important. According to data on mutual benefit fund for retirement from the Construction Workers Mutual Aid Association, the number of foreign workers at construction sites has increased by 27% over the past 3 years, from 93,404 at the end of March 2024 to 118,375 at the end of March 2024, accounting for 16.2% of all on-site workers.
Sang-Shin Park, CEO of DL E&C, said, “Safety guidelines, which can be easily understood without language barriers, are directly related to the safety of foreign workers. We expect this safety training video will enhance the safety awareness of foreign workers and help prevent accidents.”
