DL E&C announced on the 23rd that its “e-Pyeonhansesang Godeok Urban Bridge” won the Grand Prize at the 43rd Seoul Architecture Awards, hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
The Seoul Architecture Award is the city’s most prestigious architectural award. Since 1979, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has selected and awarded buildings that embody the public value of architecture, enhance the quality of life for citizens, and contribute to the advancement of architectural culture and technology.
This year’s awards ceremony was held under the theme “Seoul-ness: Multi-Layered City.” A total of 89 architectural works were received through a preliminary competition, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government selected the winners based on their focus on works that interpreted the city’s uniqueness, identity, and regional character in a forward-looking manner.
DL E&C won the grand prize for its e-Pyeonhansesang Godeok Urban Bridge, which was completed last year in Sangil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul. The complex consists of six buildings, with two basement levels and 27 floors above ground, and a total of 593 apartment units. Low-rise buildings were placed along the complex's perimeter, creating paths and courtyards that naturally connect with the city. The central pedestrian walkway at the center of the complex was designed as a park-like, three-dimensional walkway. This unique approach breaks away from the isolated structure of traditional apartments and creates an open apartment complex connected to the city.
An official from DL E&C said, “e-Pyeonhansesang Godeok Urban Bridge received high praise from the selection committee during both the document and on-site evaluations, as an open-plan apartment complex featuring harmonious landscape.
