DL E&C Accelerates ESG Management as the First Step for Safety Innovation

DL E&C (former Daelim) announced on the 18th that it opened a safety experience school within the DL Daedeok Research Institute in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. The school in Yongin was relocated to the current location. The size was expanded, and new training facilities and contents were added. DL E&C is accelerating ESG (Educational, Social, Governance) management plans to create zero-accident workplaces through safety experience school operations and various safety innovation activities.

With 2 floors aboveground and 1,684㎡ in total floor area, the safety experience school was built by expanding the existing size by more than 40%. The school consists of 21 types of training/educational and experience facilities ranging from construction heavy equipment to diverse makeshift installations and facilities actually used in construction sites. There are equipment and contents by which the top five high-risk jobs in construction sites—high place, lifting (lifting heavy stuff with equipment), digging, electrical, and fire jobs—can be experienced with VR. In addition, a program introducing a smart safety system combining the Fourth Industry including cutting-edge IoT, drone, big data, AI, and wearable equipment is being operated.

DL E&C has fortified training to prevent falling and slipping accidents. About half of the accidents causing death in construction sites are caused by falling accidents. Trainees can learn the checklist before starting work and safe operation method of workbench through experience by placing the high-place workbench used in sites within the safety experience school. Moreover, training on system scaffolding to prevent falling accidents was added as the upper part guardrail’s preceding construction is possible at the lower-part foothold. The trainees can receive training on the proper installation method and safety inspection method.

DL E&C has conducted safety training for 2,785 people in 110 sessions since 2019. This year, the company plans to conduct experience training by expanding the trainees to its employees, workers of partner firms, students, and communities. Safety accident prevention technologies using big data and smart safety technology and equipment are slated to be expanded and applied. DL E&C is scheduled to accelerate company-wide ESG management by setting safety innovation management that can contribute to accident prevention of its employees, partner firms, and communities as the first step.
