Made a Voluntary Agreement on Green Purchase

On April 20, Daelim Industrial made a voluntary agreement on green purchase to further promote the production, distribution and consumption of environmental products at Grand Intercontinental Hotel, Seoul. At the signing ceremony, vice chairman Jong-In Kim, the Minister of Environment Man-Eui Lee, chairperson of Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute Sang-Il Kim and CEOs and executives of other signer companies attended.
A total of 31 Korea’s leading companies took part in this agreement: 15 new members including Daelim and 16 renewal members such as Lotte Mart and Dongbu Steel that 3-year agreement period ended.

Taking the agreement opportunity, Daelim will pay more attention to the vitalization of green purchase including the establishment and execution of guidelines for green purchase, introduction of green purchase system, and education and public relations on green purchase.

In 2009, Daelim had proclaimed the ‘Green Management’ to emerge as a leading company in low-carbon green growth paradigm in commemoration of its 70th anniversary, and has reformed its organizational infra including human resources and management systems to meet the green management. The company launched a new apartment type to save heating and cooling energy by 50 percent for the first in the domestic market and, at the sites, has realized the concept of ‘green construction.’

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment is preparing for the enactment of enforcement regulations to grant incentives to participants in the above voluntary agreement. Until 2010, a total of 123 companies joined the voluntary agreement for green purchase which had begun in 2005.
