DL E&C has won the grand prize at the Civil Engineering Structure Awards of the Year by the Korean Society of Civil Engineers for the Saemangeum Mangyeong Bridge, for the second consecutive year. This follows last year's 1915 Çanakkale Bridge in Türkiye, proving DL E&C's world-class civil engineering technological capabilities.

DL E&C announced that it received the grand prize during the 26th Civil Engineers Day event on March 30, 2023.

The Civil Engineering Structure Awards of the Year is an annual event held by the Korean Society of Civil Engineers to promote the development of new design and construction technology for domestic and foreign civil engineering structures. Winning works are decided after receiving applications for the awards and screening diverse civil engineering structures such as bridges, roads, ports, railways, water resources, environments, and tunnels.

At this year's awards, DL E&C gained recognition for the Saemangeum Mangyeong Bridge, which was completed in January and has a main bridge length of 723 meters. As the world's first asymmetric reverse-arch bridge built in the first-phase section 1 of Saemangeum North-South Road ordered by Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency, the bridge is shaped like a crescent, namely reverse-bow-shaped. Its differentiated design, as if the bridge is embracing the waterway of Saemangeum, is phenomenal.

The judges gave a favorable review of the Mangyeong Bridge, referring to it as "a structure through which the Korean construction technology status can be confirmed." They especially gave a high score to the creative asymmetric upper part structure type adopted in the process, ensuring the flight safety of airplanes flying over the neighboring airport.

DL E&C won the grand prize last year for the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge in Turkiye, the world's longest suspension bridge (3,563 meters) connecting Europe and Asia. With its excellent technological capability recognized by winning the prize at the European Steel Bridge Awards from ECCS last year, DL E&C is gaining global attention.

"We have proven our world-class civil engineering technological capabilities by winning the grand prize for two years in a row. We will continue to create landmarks, including bridges, railways, tunnels, and ports that draw people's attention worldwide by leading technology in the construction industry," said an official of DL E&C.
