Petrochemical Business Division Acquires Kraton’s Cariflex Division

Kraton’s Brazil Plant

Daelim Petrochemical Business Division sought to acquire Kraton’s Cariflex Division on Oct. 30. Daelim will acquire Kraton Brazil Plant’s original technologies and sales, HR, and marketing rights after completion of the acquisition in the first half of 2020. The Cariflex Division produces high value-added synthetic rubbers and latexes used for medical materials such as surgery gloves and rubber lid of syringe. This project is Daelim’s first acquisition of overseas managerial right and is expected to contribute to the expansion of Daelim’s petrochemical business and Daelim’s growth as a petrochemical developer.

Synthetic rubber is the No. 1 product in the global synthetic rubber surgery glove market. Synthetic rubber surgery gloves are a substitute for natural rubber surgery gloves, and their share in the US market is rapidly growing. High annual growth of 8% is expected as the market share of synthetic rubber surgery gloves is forecast to go up gradually in Europe and Asia in the future.
