DL E&C’s Civil Engineering Biz Division was selected as a qualified execution design company for the Busan New Port North Container Second Phase Port Hinterland Shaping Project ordered by the Busan Port Authority (BPA) on September 17. The construction cost is KRW 575.4 billion (DL E&C stake: KRW 241.7 billion, VAT-exclusive), and the project is the largest single construction among the projects ordered since the opening of the New Port of the Port of Busan since 2006.
The project involves removing part of Mt. Yokmangsan close to the New Port, using the earth and sand and stones for the reclamation of the Busan New Port as well as Jinhae new port, and shaping the site to be used as the port hinterland. The mountain’s altitude is 150m, and 2.862 billion㎥ of earth and sand and stone was used; the port hinterland complex site to be developed spans 522,000㎡, equivalent to the size of 75 football stadiums.
The large project is to kick off in 2022, and the total construction period is 12 years.
